Retirement: Functions on Azure Container Apps V1

Azure Container AppsAzure update

The Functions on Azure Container Apps (ACA) V1 will be retired on September 29, 2027. After this date, existing Functions on ACA V1 Apps will stop running and no longer process requests or event-driven triggers.

Action required

Review your Azure environments and migrate all affected apps to the Functions on Azure Container Apps(ACA) V2 hosting model before September 29, 2027 to avoid service disruption.

Functions on ACA V2 uses a native Azure Container App configured with `kind=functionapp`. You can reuse your existing container image; the standard migration path doesn't require function code changes.

Use the Azure Functions on Azure Container Apps v1 migration assistant to help migrate your function apps from the V1 to V2 model.

To migrate manually

1. Record the V1 app's configuration, including secrets, identity, networking, and scaling.

2. Create a V2 app with `kind=functionapp` and reapply the configuration.

3. Test all triggers, shift production traffic, and then decommission the V1 app.

We recommend completing migration and production validation well before the retirement date.
